Building While Healing
There’s this idea that healing has to come before the work — that we can’t move forward until we’re all patched up and put together. But what if I told you that some of the strongest, most meaningful work comes not after healing… but during it?
I’m building something that matters. I’m giving life to S.O.S. (Strength of Survival), a movement born out of pain, purpose, and the process of becoming whole again. But the truth is — I’m still healing. Still grieving. Still finding my footing some days. And yet, the calling doesn’t pause just because I’m hurting.
Healing doesn’t disqualify you from building.
It actually qualifies you more. Because when you're building through brokenness, you bring a level of realness that can’t be faked. You speak from lived experience. You offer others what you yourself are reaching for — hope.
It’s not always easy. Some days the emotional weight makes it hard to press forward. Other days, your spirit surprises you with how strong it’s become. Both days are part of the process.
If You’re Building While Healing, Remember This:
God honors your effort. Even the imperfect, messy, tear-stained steps.
You don’t need to wait until you’re “okay” to start. Start in obedience, not perfection.
You’re not alone. Many of us are holding bricks in one hand and Band-Aids in the other.
So give yourself grace. Show up how you can. Rest when you need to. And remember —what you’re building isn’t just for others. It’s healing you too.
You’re not building despite the healing. You're building because of it.
