The Strength of Survival is Real
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.” – Psalm 28:7
Survival. It’s more than just getting through the day. It’s more than just pushing forward when life gets tough. It’s about finding strength in the midst of the storm, courage when you feel broken, and peace even when the world around you is in chaos.
The strength of survival is real, and it’s found in God.
When I created S.O.S. (Strength of Survival), it wasn’t just about a catchy name. It was born out of a deep understanding of what it means to survive—not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally. I know what it’s like to feel like you’re at the end of your rope, to wonder how you’re going to get through the next moment.
I know what it’s like to lose a piece of your heart—the kind of loss that shakes you to your core. When I lost my son, my world was shattered. I was faced with the most devastating pain a parent can imagine, and I didn’t know how I could go on. But in the midst of that heartbreak, I discovered something incredibly powerful: the strength to survive doesn’t come from our own willpower. It comes from God.
He carried me through the darkest moments, when all I wanted to do was give up. He reminded me that though my heart was broken, it could still heal. Though I was crushed, I could rise again. And in that pain, I found the true meaning of survival.
How Survival Is More Than Endurance
Survival is often associated with just hanging on. But real survival is about thriving through your struggles. It’s about discovering parts of yourself that you didn’t know were there—parts that God has placed in you for moments like these.
The strength of survival comes when we:
Lean into our faith – In moments of weakness, faith becomes our anchor. It keeps us grounded when everything else seems to be falling apart.
Embrace community – Whether it’s family, friends, or support groups, the strength of survival often comes from others who walk alongside us, lifting us when we can’t stand on our own.
Find purpose in our pain – Sometimes, survival is not just about making it through; it’s about using our experiences to help others. The strength of survival grows as we share our story and become part of someone else’s healing.
Survival Is Possible for You
If you’re reading this and feel like you’re at the breaking point, I want you to know that survival is possible. No matter how dark the season, God’s strength is greater. It’s not about being strong on your own. It’s about trusting in the One who holds you.
I didn’t think I could survive the loss of my son. But God proved me wrong. He gave me the strength to stand, to keep moving, and to help others along the way. Psalm 28:7 reminds us that “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.” We can trust that God will help us, no matter what we face.
Your Strength Is Within You
If you feel like you're just surviving right now, take a deep breath. The strength you need is already in you, through the love of Christ. It’s waiting to be awakened, and it’s waiting for you to tap into it. Your journey may not be easy, but it’s yours, and you’re not walking it alone.
Let the strength of survival carry you today, tomorrow, and every day after.
