When the Call Feels Too Heavy

Scripture Focus: Romans 11:29 – “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”
Also see: Jeremiah 1:5, Galatians 6:9

Reflection:

There are moments when the weight of our calling feels like more than we can bear. When doubt creeps in, when the task feels too big, or when we feel too broken to carry out God’s assignment. I’ve had those moments—where I questioned why God would call me, and honestly, I almost gave up.

But God doesn’t just call us—He equips us.
And even when we feel disqualified by pain, disappointment, or detours, God’s call remains. Unshaken. Unrevoked.

He knew exactly who we were when He chose us.
He knew the mistakes we’d make.
He saw the storms we’d face.
And He still said go.

Devotional:

There’s something holy about the struggle.
Because it’s in those “too heavy” moments that God reminds us—we’re not carrying it alone.

We were never meant to carry the full weight of the call.
We are meant to walk with the One who carries us.

If you’ve ever whispered, “God, I don’t think I can do this…”—you’re not alone. But don’t stop there. Because right after that whisper, He’s whispering back:
“My grace is sufficient.”
“You were made for this.”
“Keep going.”

Personal Note:

There was a season when I almost gave up on the very thing God called me to build—my foundation, the Jameil Aikeem Congo Cares Foundation. The weight of grief, responsibility, and feeling like I wasn’t enough had me questioning everything. I wondered if I had what it took. I wondered if people even saw the purpose behind it. But every time I got close to letting it go, God reminded me why I started—and more importantly, who it was for. He reminded me that it wasn’t just about me. It was about the lives waiting on the other side of my obedience.

And so I press on. Not in my strength, but in His. Because this call, no matter how heavy it feels at times, is anchored in love, purpose, and promise.

Prayer:

Lord, I thank You for trusting me with a calling even when I’ve doubted myself. Forgive me for the times I almost gave up. Strengthen my heart when the burden feels too heavy. Remind me that I’m not walking alone—and that You chose me for a reason. Help me carry this call with grace, faith, and endurance.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
